AirAsia operates scheduled domestic and international flights to more than 165 destinations spanning 25 countries.Its main base is klia2, the low-cost carrier terminal at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia. Its affiliate airlines Thai AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia, Philippines AirAsia, and AirAsia India have bases in Bangkok–Don Mueang, Jakarta–Soekarno-Hatta, Manila–Ninoy Aquino, and Bangalore–Kempegowda airports respectively, while its sister airline, AirAsia X, focuses on long-haul routes. AirAsia has consistently been named as the world's best low-cost carrier for 11 years by Skytrax in a row in international travel and airline awards, including the latest award for 2019. However, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, AirAsia chose not to give blanket refunds to passengers of flights it cancelled to preserve cash, offering instead travel vouchers by default, with refunds only issued on a case-by-case basis.
